Clóvis Frainer OFMCap (born March 23, 1931 in Veranópolis , Rio Grande do Sul ; † April 4, 2017 in Caxias do Sul ) was a Brazilian religious and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Juiz de Fora .

Life

Clóvis Frainer joined the religious order of the Capuchins and the Archbishop of Porto Alegre , Alfredo Vicente Scherer , ordained him on March 27, 1955 as a priest .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 3, 1978 first prelate of the territorial prelature Coxim, established on the same date . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Carmine Rocco , donated him episcopal ordination on April 9 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Benedito Zorzi , Bishop of Caxias do Sul , and Antônio Barbosa SDB , Bishop of Campo Grande . He chose EVANGELIZARE MISIT ME as the motto .

On January 5, 1985, he was appointed Archbishop of Manaus by Pope John Paul II and on May 22, 1991, he was appointed Archbishop of Juiz de Fora . On November 28, 2001, John Paul II accepted his resignation for health reasons.
