Benedito Zorzi

Benedito Zorzi (born May 27, 1908 in Nova Pádua , Rio Grande do Sul , † December 2, 1988 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Caxias do Sul .

Life

Benedito Zorzi received the sacrament of ordination for the diocese of Caxias on November 30, 1933 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on August 3, 1946 Bishop of Ilhéus . The bishop of Pelotas , Antônio Zattera , ordained him episcopal on November 30th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Caxias, José Baréa , and the Prelate of Vacaria , Cândido Julio Bampi, OFMCap .

On June 24, 1952, he was appointed Bishop of Caxias. He participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father . With the renaming of the diocese to the diocese of Caxias do Sul on October 19, 1966, he remained its diocesan bishop.

On May 26, 1983, Pope John Paul II accepted his resignation, one day before reaching the age limit for bishops.
