The Roman Catholic Diocese of Humaitá ( lat. : Dioecesis Humaitanensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Humaitá in the state of Amazonas .

history

The Diocese of Humaitá was on June 26, 1961 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Ecclesiae universae from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Manaus and the territorial prelature Porto Velho as the territorial prelature Humaitá . The territorial prelature was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Manaus as a suffragan . On October 16, 1979, the territorial prelature Humaitá was raised to the diocese by Pope John Paul II with the Apostolic Constitution Cum praelaturae . The Diocese of Humaitá was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Porto Velho as a suffragan on October 4, 1982.
