Antônio Fontinele de Melo

Antônio Fontinele de Melo (born May 9, 1968 in Camocim , Ceará ) is a Brazilian clergyman and appointed Roman Catholic Bishop of Humaitá .

Life

Antônio Fontinele de Melo studied Philosophy and Catholic Theology from 1992 to 1998 at the São João XXIII Seminary in Porto Velho . His degree in philosophy was awarded by the Catholic University of Brasília and his degree in Catholic theology from the Centro Superior de Juiz de Fora . Fontinele de Melo also specialized in pedagogy and biblical exegesis . He was ordained a deacon on November 21, 1998 and received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Porto Velho on September 18, 1999 .

After his ordination, Antônio Fontinele de Melo became pastor of the parish of São Cristóvão . In addition, he worked from 1999 to 2005 as the rain of the Dom Helder Câmara Small Seminary and from 2005 to 2010 as coordinator for pastoral care in the Archdiocese of Porto Velho. In addition, Fontinele de Melo was assessor for the base parishes in the Noroeste region of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference from 2009 to 2012 . From 2016 Antônio Fontinele de Melo taught at the São João XXIII seminary in Porto Velho as well as at the Centro Universitário Claretiano and at the Faculdade de Ciências Humanas, Exatas e Letras de Rondônia (FARO). He was also pastor of the Sagrado Coração de Jesus Cathedral in Porto Velho and diocesan economist of the Archdiocese of Porto Velho.

On August 12, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Humaitá.
