The Roman Catholic Diocese of Santos ( Latin Dioecesis Santo Sensis , Portuguese Diocese de Santos ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese , based in Santos in the state of São Paulo .
history
The diocese of Santos was founded on July 4, 1924 by Pope Pius XI. built with the Papal Bull Ubi Praesules from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of São Paulo and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On March 2, 1968, the diocese of Santos gave parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Itapeva . Further territorial assignments took place on January 19, 1974 to found the diocese Registro and on March 3, 1999 to found the diocese Caraguatatuba .
