Paulo de Tarso Campos

Paulo de Tarso Campos (born August 24, 1895 in Jaú , Brazil , † March 2, 1970 ) was Archbishop of Campinas .

Life

Paulo de Tarso Campos received on 15 August 1920, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On June 1, 1935, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Santos . The Archbishop of São Paulo , Leopoldo Duarte e Silva , donated him episcopal ordination on July 14th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Sorocaba , José Carlos de Aguirre , and the Auxiliary Bishop of São Paulo, José Gaspar d'Afonseca e Silva .

Pope Pius XII appointed him Bishop of Campinas on December 14, 1941. On April 19, 1958, Paulo de Tarso Campos became the first archbishop of Campinas as a result of the elevation of the diocese of Campinas. Pope Paul VI accepted on September 19, 1968 the resignation put forward by Campos and appointed him titular Archbishop of Garba .

Paulo de Tarso Campos attended the first and second session of the Second Vatican Council .
