Antônio Maria Alves de Siqueira (born November 14, 1906 in São Paulo , Brazil , † April 20, 1993 ) was Archbishop of Campinas .

Life

Antônio Maria Alves de Siqueira received on 15 August 1930, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On May 10, 1947, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Arycanda and auxiliary bishop in Sao Paulo . The Archbishop of São Paulo, Cardinal Carlos Carmelo de Vasconcelos Motta , ordained him episcopal on July 20 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Campinas, Paulo de Tarso Campos , and the Bishop of Ribeirão Preto , Manuel da Silveira d'Elboux .

Pius XII. appointed him on July 19, 1957 titular archbishop of Chalcis in Syria and coadjutor archbishop of São Paulo. On October 27, 1966, Pope Paul VI appointed him . to Coadjutor Archbishop of Campinas. Antônio Maria Alves de Siqueira became Archbishop of Campinas on September 19, 1968, succeeding the resigned Paulo de Tarso Campos.

On February 10, 1982, Pope John Paul II accepted Alves de Siqueira's resignation due to reasons of age.

Antônio Maria Alves de Siqueira attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
