Eduardo Benes de Sales Rodrigues (born June 25, 1941 in Bias Fortes ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Sorocaba .

Life

Eduardo Benes de Sales Rodrigues was ordained a priest on December 13, 1964 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him auxiliary bishop in Porto Alegre and titular bishop of Casae Medianae on March 11, 1998 . The Archbishop of Juiz de Fora , Clóvis Frainer OFMCap , donated him episcopal ordination on June 21 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Altamiro Rossato CSsR , Archbishop of Porto Alegre, and Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo , Auxiliary Bishop in São Salvador da Bahia . As a motto he chose Mitis et humilis corde .

On January 10, 2001, he was appointed Bishop of Lorena and on March 11 of the same year he was appointed to the office. On May 4, 2005 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Archbishop of Sorocaba .

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on December 28, 2016.

On October 10, 2018 Pope Francis appointed him for up to 31 August 2019 ongoing Sedisvakanz the Apostolic Administrator of Catanduva .
