Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo (born April 26, 1954 in Cocos , Bahia , Brazil ) is a Roman Catholic clergyman and Archbishop of Belo Horizonte .

Life

Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo was born to João Augusto de Azevedo and his wife Maria Conceição Oliveira Azevedo. From 1960 to 1965 he attended the Grupo Escolar Sebastião Augusto de Azevedo elementary school and from 1966 to 1968 the Episcopal Gymnasium São José and in 1969 the Instituto de Educação Anísio Teixeira in Caetité . Oliveira de Azevedo entered the archiepiscopal seminary of Santo Antônio in Juiz de Fora in 1970 . From 1972 to 1973 he studied philosophy at the Philosophical Faculty Dom Bosco in Juiz de Fora and from 1974 to 1975 literary studies in São João del Rei . Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo studied Catholic theology at the Santo Antônio Seminary in Juiz de Fora from 1974 to 1977 . He received the sacrament of ordination for the Archdiocese of Juiz de Fora on September 9, 1977 .

In 1977 he was sent to Rome for further studies in Biblical Exegesis . During this time Walmor Oliveira de Azevedo lived in the Pontifical Brazilian College of Pius . In 1980 he obtained a licentiate in Biblical Exegesis from the Pontifical Biblical Institute . From 1980 to 1984 he was the coordinator of the theological course at the seminary in Juiz de Fora and diocesan coordinator for vocational pastoral care . In 1985 he was at the Pontifical Gregorian University with a managed by Fritzleo Lentzen-Deis dissertation doctorate in theology in specialist biblical criticism doctorate . From 1986 to 1987 Oliveira de Azevedo was instructor, professor of biblical exegesis and parish vicar as well as coordinator of the theological course at the seminary in Juiz de Fora. As auxiliary bishop, Oliveira de Azevedo was pastoral coordinator in the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia and secretary of the Nordeste 3 region of the Brazilian Bishops' Conference .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Belo Horizonte on January 28, 2004 . The inauguration took place on March 26 of the same year. On July 28, 2010, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . also as a full professor for the Catholic believers in the oriental rites in Brazil .
