Severino Clasen

Severino Clasen OFM (born June 10, 1954 in Ituporanga ) is a Brazilian Roman Catholic religious and archbishop of Maringá .

Life

Severino Clasen attended the Small Seminar in Ituporanga from 1968 . In January 1976 he joined the Franciscan order . He studied philosophy at the Philosophical Institute of the Franciscans in Curitiba and Catholic theology at the Theological Institute of the Franciscans in Petrópolis . He also completed courses on the Franciscan sources in Assisi and on the Holy Scriptures in the Holy Land . Severino Clasen made his perpetual profession on April 18, 1981 and on July 10, 1982 he received the sacrament of ordination from the Bishop of Rio do Sul , Tito Buss .

After his ordination, Severino Clasen initially worked as parish vicar of the parish of Nossa Senhora do Rosário in Concórdia , before he became pastor of the parish of Nossa Senhora do Rosário in Porto União and guardian of the local convent of the Franciscans in 1988 . Later Clasen was rector of the Sanctuary of São Francisco de Assis in São Paulo .

On May 11, 2005 Pope Benedict XVI appointed him . to the Bishop of Araçuaí . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Archbishop Lorenzo Baldisseri , donated him episcopal ordination on June 25 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Diamantina , Paulo Lopes de Faria , and the Bishop Emeritus of Rio do Sul, Tito Buss.

On July 6, 2011, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him. to the Bishop of Caçador . The inauguration took place on September 4th of the same year. On July 1, 2020, Pope Francis appointed him Archbishop of Maringá. The inauguration took place on August 15 of the same year.
