The Diocese of Araçuaí ( lat. : Dioecesis Arassuahyensis , port. Diocese de Araçuaí ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Araçuaí in the state of Minas Gerais .
history
The diocese of Araçuaí was established on August 25, 1913 by Pope Pius X from cession of the diocese of Diamantina . On June 28, 1917, the diocese Araçuaí was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Diamantina as a suffragan . The diocese Araçuaí gave on February 1, 1956 parts of its territory to establish the diocese Governador Valadares . Further assignments of territory took place on November 27, 1960 to found the Diocese Teófilo Otoni and on March 28, 1981 to found the Diocese of Almenara .
