The diocese Ruy Barbosa ( lat. : Dioecesis Ruibarbosensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Ruy Barbosa in the state of Bahia .
history
The diocese of Ruy Barbosa was on November 14, 1959 by Pope John XXIII. established with the Apostolic Constitution Mater Ecclesia from cedings of the dioceses of Barra , Bonfim and Caetité as well as the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia . It was subordinated to the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia as a suffragan . On April 28, 1979, the Diocese of Ruy Barbosa gave parts of its territory to establish the Diocese of Irecê . The diocese of Ruy Barbosa was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Feira de Santana on January 16, 2002 as a suffragan.
