The Diocese of Barra ( lat. : Dioecesis Barrensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Barra in the state of Bahia .

history

Pope Pius X. founded it on October 20, 1913 with the Apostolic Constitution Catholicae Ecclesiae from cession of territory of the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.

It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:

On January 16, 2002 it became part of the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Feira de Santana .

The diocese of Crato includes the parishes of Barra, Brotas de Macaúbas, Buritirama, Gentio do Ouro, Ibotirama, Ipupiara, Itaguaçu da Bahia, Morpará, Muquém de São Francisco, Oliveira dos Brejinhos and Xique-Xique of the state of Bahia.
