The Diocese of Pesqueira ( Latin Dioecesis Pesqueirensis , Portuguese Diocese de Pesqueira ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Pesqueira in the state of Pernambuco . It covers part of the state.

history

Pope Pius X. founded the diocese of Floresta on December 5, 1910 from cessions of territory from the Archdiocese of Olinda , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese. On August 2, 1918, the bishopric was moved from Floresta to Pesqueira and the diocese took its current name.

It lost parts of its territory in favor of the establishment of the following dioceses:
