Adelmo Cavalcante Machado (born March 5, 1905 in Penedo , Alagoas , Brazil , † November 28, 1983 in Maceió ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic Archbishop of Maceió .

Life

Adelmo Cavalcante Machado received on 4 December 1927, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 3, 1948, Pope Pius XII appointed him . to the Bishop of Pesqueira . The Archbishop of Maceió, Ranulfo da Silva Farias , gave him episcopal ordination on August 15 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Penedo , Fernando Gomes dos Santos , and the Bishop of Garanhuns , Juvéncio de Brito .

On June 24, 1955, Pius XII appointed him. the Titular Archbishop of Leontopolis in Pamphylia and Koadjutorerzbischof of Maceió. Adelmo Cavalcante Machado became Archbishop of Maceió on October 19, 1963, succeeding the late Ranulfo da Silva Farias. On November 24, 1976, Pope Paul VI. the resignation put forward by Cavalcante Machado.

Adelmo Cavalcante Machado attended all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
