The Roman Catholic Diocese of Penedo ( lat. : Dioecesis Penedensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Penedo in the state of Alagoas .
history
The diocese of Penedo was on April 3, 1916 by Pope Benedict XV. established with the papal bull Catholicae Ecclesiae cura from cessions of territory of the diocese of Alagoas and subordinated to the archbishopric of Olinda as a suffragan diocese. On February 13, 1920, the Diocese of Penedo was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Maceió as a suffragan. The diocese of Penedo gave up on February 10, 1962 parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Palmeira dos Índios .
