Dead Head is a thrash metal band from Kampen or Zwolle ( Netherlands ), which was founded in 1989.
history
The band was founded on April 8, 1989 by Tom van Dijk (bass, vocals), Robbie Woning (electric guitar), Ronnie van der Wey (electric guitar) and Hans Spijker (drums). In terms of sound, it was based on other Thrash Metal bands such as Dark Angel , Kreator and Sadus . That same year she recorded her first demo called Lethargy . With the release of this demo it gained increasing attention and a fan base developed. In 1990 the band recorded their second demo The Festering . In total, the band sold 2500 copies of their demos. The band also went on a tour with Carcass that included eight performances. The band then signed a contract with Bad Taste Recordings . In 1991 the band recorded their first album The Feast Begins at Dawn . However, the band was not satisfied with this because the label had mixed the pieces badly. This changed with the second album Dream Deceiver , which was released in 1993. Drummer Spijker, who dropped out to record the album, was replaced by Marco Kleinnibbelink. Following this, Dead Head made two tours of Europe to promote the first two albums. She also performed at a few concerts in Belgium and Scandinavia . In the mid-1990s, drummer Hans Spijker returned to the band. The band was now also under contract with the German label Shark Records , but they separated from the label again before an album was released. The third album, Kill Division , was recorded, but the band split up before they could find a suitable label. The band members focused more on their private lives during the break.
In 1999 the band found a suitable label with Cold Blood Industries (label of God Dethroned singer Henri Sattler ), so that Kill Division was released that same year. The band also played more and more at various concerts. After the recordings of Kill Division , the band separated from singer Tom van Dijk. She has now performed with singer and bassist Michiel Dekker (now with The Monolith Deathcult ). The compilation album Come to Salem (2000, Hammerheart Records ) contained classic demo material as well as previously unreleased songs. As a result, the band wrote new songs and performed with bands such as Sadus and Exodus . The fourth album Haatland was recorded in Denmark and produced by Jacob Hansen . Original singer / bassist Tom van Dijk could be heard on the album again. Was published Haatland in 2005 in the Swedish label Extremity Records . All founding members could be heard on the album. In 2006 the band worked on new songs, which resulted in the album Depression Tank (2009, Displeased Records ). Original singer Tom van Dijk had a great influence on the production of the album, leaving the band before the record was finished. Ralph de Boer became the new singer, who was also a member of the band Sidius .
style
Stylistically, the band is comparable to classic Thrash Metal bands like Kreator and Dark Angel. Another characteristic of the band is the high speed of the pieces, especially that of the drums.
