Itamar Navildo Vian

Itamar Navildo Vian OFMCap (born September 25, 1941 in Roca Sales ) is a Brazilian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of Feira de Santana .

Life

Itamar Navildo Vian joined the religious order of the Capuchins and was ordained a priest on December 1, 1968 .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Barra on December 29, 1983 . The Archbishop of Porto Alegre , João Cláudio Colling , donated him episcopal ordination on April 8 of the next year; Co- consecrators were Nei Paulo Moretto , Bishop of Caxias do Sul , and Orlando Octacílio Dotti OFMCap, Coadjutor Bishop of Vacaria . As a motto he chose SOMOS TODOS IRMÃOS .

On February 22, 1995, he was appointed bishop of Feira de Santana . With the elevation to the archbishopric on January 16, 2002 he was appointed Archbishop of Feira de Santana.

Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on November 18, 2015.
