João Cláudio Colling
João Cláudio Colling (born June 24, 1913 in Harmonia , Brazil , † September 3, 1992 in Passo Fundo ) was Archbishop of Porto Alegre .
Life
João Cláudio Colling received on 10 August 1937, the sacrament of Holy Orders .
On December 12, 1949, Pope Pius XII appointed him . the titular bishop of Corone and auxiliary bishop in Santa Maria . The Archbishop of Porto Alegre, Alfredo Vicente Scherer , donated him episcopal ordination on January 29, 1950 ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Caxias , José Baréa , and the Bishop of Santa Maria, Antônio Reis .
Pope Pius XII appointed him on March 23, 1951 as the first Bishop of Passo Fundo . On August 29, 1981, Pope John Paul II appointed him Archbishop of Porto Alegre. On July 17, 1991, John Paul II accepted João Cláudio Colling's resignation due to reasons of age.
João Cláudio Colling participated in all four sessions of the Second Vatican Council .
