The Roman Catholic Diocese of Barreiras ( lat. : Dioecesis Barreriensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Barreiras in the State of Bahia .

history

The diocese of Barreiras was established on May 21, 1979 by Pope John Paul II from cessions of territory from the diocese of Barra and subordinated to the archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia as a suffragan diocese. First Bishop was Ricardo José Weberberger OSB . On January 16, 2002, the Diocese of Barreiras was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Feira de Santana as a suffragan.
