The diocese Caetité ( Latin Dioecesis Caëtitensis , Portuguese Diocese de Caetité ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Caetité in the state of Bahia .

history

The diocese Caetité was established on October 20, 1913 by Pope Pius X. with the Apostolic Constitution Maius animarum bonum from ceding territories of the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On November 14, 1959, the diocese of Caetité gave up parts of its territory to establish the diocese of Ruy Barbosa . Another cession took place on February 27, 1967 to found the diocese of Livramento de Nossa Senhora . The diocese of Caetité was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Vitória da Conquista as a suffragan on January 16, 2002 .
