The diocese of Itabuna ( Latin Dioecesis Itabunensis , Portuguese Diocese de Itabuna ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Itabuna in the state of Bahia .
history
The Diocese of Diamantina was established on November 7, 1978 by Pope John Paul II from cessions of territory from the Diocese of Ilhéus and subordinated to the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia as a suffragan . The diocese of Itabuna gave up parts of its territory in 1966 to establish the diocese of Eunápolis .
