André de Witte

André de Witte (born December 31, 1944 in Scheldewindeke ) is a Belgian clergyman and emeritus Roman Catholic bishop of Ruy Barbosa .

Life

André de Witte received on 6 July 1968, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On 8 June 1994 it appointed Pope John Paul II. To the Bishop of Ruy Barbosa . The Archbishop of Salvador da Bahia, Lucas Cardinal Moreira Neves OP , donated him episcopal ordination on August 28 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of the Diocese of Alagoinhas, Jaime Mota de Farias , and the Bishop of the Diocese of Ghent, Arthur Luysterman . Bishop De Witte supports the Comissão Pastoral da Terra and the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra .

On April 15, 2020, Pope Francis accepted André de Witte's resignation due to reasons of age.
