The diocese Paulo Afonso ( lat. : Dioecesis Paulalfonsanensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Paulo Afonso in the state of Bahia .

history

The diocese Paulo Afonso was on September 14, 1971 by Pope Paul VI. Established with the Apostolic Constitution Pastorale Menus from assignments of territory by the Diocese of Bonfim and subordinated to the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia as a suffragan . On January 16, 2002, the Diocese of Paulo Afonso was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Feira de Santana as a suffragan. The diocese Paulo Afonso gave on September 21, 2005 parts of its territory to establish the diocese Serrinha .
