Murilo Sebastião Ramos Krieger SCI (born September 19, 1943 in Brusque ) is a Brazilian religious , emeritus Roman Catholic Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia and Primate of Brazil.

Life

Murilo Ramos Krieger joined the Congregation of the Dehonians in, laid in 1964, the profession , and the Archbishop of Florianópolis , Alfonso Niehues , ordained him on December 7, 1969 priests .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on February 16, 1985 auxiliary bishop in Florianópolis and titular bishop of Lysinia . The Archbishop of Florianópolis, Alfonso Niehues, donated him episcopal ordination on April 28 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Honorato Piazera SCI, Bishop of Lages , and Eusébio Scheid SCI, Bishop of São José dos Campos . He chose DEUS CARITAS EST as the motto .

He was appointed Bishop of Ponta Grossa on May 8, 1991, and was introduced to the office on July 22 of the same year. On May 7, 1997 he was appointed Archbishop of Maringá and on July 11 of the same year he was introduced to the office. On February 20, 2002 he was appointed Archbishop of Florianópolis.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia on January 12, 2011, and he was inducted into office on March 25 of the same year. On March 11, 2020, Pope Francis accepted Murilo Sebastião Ramos Krieger's resignation due to reasons of age.
