The diocese of Lages ( Latin Dioecesis Lagensis , Portuguese Diocese de Lages ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Lages in the state of Santa Catarina .

history

The diocese of Lages was on January 17, 1927 by Pope Pius XI. established with the Apostolic Constitution Inter praecipuas from cessions of territory of the Archdiocese of Florianópolis and subordinated to this as a suffragan . On December 9, 1933, the Lages diocese gave up parts of its territory to establish the Palmas Territorial Prelature . Further assignments of territory took place on January 14, 1958 to found the Chapecó diocese , November 23, 1968 to found the Caçador diocese and on June 12, 1975 to found the Joaçaba diocese .
