João Oneres Marchiori

João Oneres Marchiori (born May 2, 1933 in Carazinho ; † June 27, 2017 in Lages ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Lages .

Life

João Oneres Marchiori studied philosophy at the diocesan seminary in Lages and theology in Rome, where he was ordained priest on February 21, 1960 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him on January 25, 1977 Bishop of Caçador . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil , Archbishop Carmine Rocco , donated him episcopal ordination on April 17th of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Alfonso Niehues , Archbishop of Florianópolis and Honorato Piazera SCI , Bishop of Lages .

On April 18, 1983, he was appointed Coadjutor Bishop von Lages by Pope John Paul II . When Honorato Piazeras SCI retired on February 18, 1987, he succeeded him as Bishop of Lages. On November 11, 2009, Pope Benedict XVI. his age-related resignation.
