The Diocese of Sobral ( lat. : Dioecesis Sobralensis ) is in Brazil located Roman Catholic diocese based in Sobral in the state of Ceará .

history

Pope Benedict XV founded it on November 10, 1915 from cession of territory by the Archdiocese of Fortaleza , to which it was also subordinated as a suffragan diocese.

On September 23, 1963 it lost part of its territory to the diocese of Crateús and on March 13, 1971 another part to the dioceses of Itapipoca and Tianguá .
