José Tupinambá da Frota (born September 10, 1882 in Sobral , Ceará , Brazil , † September 25, 1959 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Sobral .

Life

José Tupinambá da Frota received on 29 October 1905, the sacrament of Holy Orders . At the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome , he was in the subjects philosophy and Catholic theology doctorate .

On January 24, 1916, Pope Benedict XV appointed him . to the first bishop of Sobral. The Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia , Jerônimo Tomé da Silva , donated him episcopal ordination on June 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Fortaleza , Manoel da Silva Gomes , and the Bishop of Alagôas , Manuel Antônio de Oliveira Lopes . The inauguration took place on August 15, 1916.

On April 6, 1923, Pope Pius XI appointed him . to the Bishop of Uberaba . Tupinambá da Frota was again Bishop of Sobral on March 10, 1924.
