Manoel da Silva Gomes (born March 14, 1874 in Salvador , Bahia , Brazil , † March 14, 1950 ) was Archbishop of Fortaleza .

Life

Manoel da Silva Gomes received on 15 November 1899, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On April 11, 1911 appointed him Pope Pius X to the titular bishop of Mopsuestia and auxiliary bishop in Fortaleza. The Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia , Jerônimo Tomé da Silva , donated him episcopal ordination on October 29 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Alagôas , Manuel Antônio de Oliveira Lopes , and the Bishop of São Luís do Maranhão , Francisco de Paula e Silva CM .

On September 16, 1912, Pope Pius X appointed him Bishop of Fortaleza. Manoel da Silva Gomes became the first Archbishop of Fortaleza on November 10, 1915 as a result of the elevation of the Diocese of Fortaleza.

Pope Pius XII accepted on May 24, 1941, the resignation put forward by Manoel da Silva Gomes and appointed him titular Archbishop of Viminacium .
