Fiat Powertrain Technologies is a CNH Industrial company .

Fiat Powertrain Technologies (FPT) has been responsible for engines and transmissions in passenger cars since May 2005 . Shortly before, the joint venture operated by Fiat and General Motors for the same purpose had largely been dissolved. In 2006, Fiat Powertrain Technologies also took over the powertrains from Iveco and the Centro Ricerche Fiat , the Group's research.

In June 2007, DaimlerChrysler ordered new engines for the Mitsubishi Fuso Canter from FPT. The same 3-liter engines are used in the Fiat Ducato , Citroën Jumper , Peugeot Boxer , Iveco Daily , Bremach T-Rex , Multicar Fumo and many other vehicles.

Around 2008, FPT with around 20,000 employees in around 8 countries with around 10 development centers and around 16 factories produced around 3 million motors and around 2.5 million gearboxes and axles every year. In 2009 sales fell from 7 billion euros to just under 5 billion euros. Losses in the Industrial division led to a negative balance at the time.

The spin-off FPT Industrial was spun off from the group with Fiat Industrial in 2011 . FPT Industrial equips commercial vehicles , motor boats and power generating sets .
