The Hyundai Mega Truck is a distribution truck built since 2004 , which Hyundai offers in 2 variants. It was introduced as a replacement for the Kia Rhino and the smallest variants of the Hyundai Super Truck together with the Hyundai New Power Truck .
Model history
Like the New Power Truck, the Mega Truck is also a facelift model of the Super Truck. In the model range, it is located above the Hyundai Mighty and Kia Bongo as a distribution truck. When it was launched, it received the Hyundai KK 6-cylinder direct injection diesel engine from the Kia Rhino with 196 and 225 hp, which enabled the standard version to reach a top speed of 130 km / h. The power transmission took place through a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission from Allison Transmission . Unlike in Europe, trucks in South Korea are only subject to a speed limit from 7.5 tons.
As with the New Power Truck, the facelift of the Super Truck was limited to minor external changes, while the interior remained the same for the time being.
In 2006 the interior design of the handbrake lever and the arrangement of the radio were changed. The most important innovation, however, was the introduction of the common rail injection diesel engine Hyundai K with 235 HP and Euro 3 emissions standard with constant power transmission. In addition, the cap version was introduced with a higher payload and increased loading area. The main difference between the Cap version and the driver's cab is that the seats are further forward and only have two instead of three seats. The driver's cab is raised, which increases the ground clearance from 180 to 220 mm. There is a reinforced leaf spring at the rear and the body structure is made of a lighter material, but this increases interior noise.
In 2008 there was a more extensive revision with a new dashboard and steering wheel. The new 5899 cm³ Hyundai D6 common-rail diesel engine with 250 PS and Euro 4 emissions standard was introduced, coupled with ZF Friedrichshafen 6-speed 6S1000 manual transmission or 6-speed Allison 2500 A / T automatic transmission.
A standard MP3 / CD player car radio has been installed since 2010 and a 260 hp version has also been available since 2011. An engine variant that has been increased to 280 hp has been available exclusively for the cab variants since 2012, in addition to a fuel tank that has been enlarged from 200 to 250 liters for all variants.
