The Hyundai ix55 was a Hyundai brand SUV that was offered in Europe from spring 2009 to the end of 2011. With the ix55, Hyundai continued its new model designations in number form in Europe. As a larger and more comfortable version of the Santa Fe , it replaced the now discontinued Terracan in terms of size .

It went on sale in Korea in October 2006, while the vehicle went on sale in the United States in spring 2007. In these two markets, the vehicle was sold under the name Veracruz . The name refers to the city of Veracruz in Mexico .

The long-wheelbase version of the Santa Fe became the successor in Europe as the Hyundai Grand Santa Fe and the Veracruz as the Hyundai Maxcruz .

technology

The ix55 was an extended version of the Hyundai Santa Fe . It was offered as a 2WD with a driven front axle or as a 4WD ( all-wheel drive ). A newly developed 6-speed automatic transmission was used for power transmission .

Engines

The ix55, known as Veracruz in the USA, was offered exclusively with a 3.8-liter V6 engine with 191 kW (260 hp) , which was also used in the Hyundai Azera and the Hyundai Entourage .

In order to create sales opportunities for the ix55 in Europe in terms of environmental compatibility, Hyundai developed the first V6 diesel engine in its company's history. It was a 3.0 l V6 common rail diesel . This developed 176 kW (239 hp) at a constant 451 Nm at 1750–3500 rpm. The maximum output was at a speed of 3800 rpm. At the end of 2011 this engine was revised and from then on developed 184 kW (250 PS). The torque increased to 471 Nm at 1750-3500 rpm. Through further optimizations, the consumption fell to 7.6 l / 100 km.

Furnishing

The ix55 was offered in the equipment variants Comfort and Premium, the Veracruz in the equipment variants GLS, SE and Limited. A third row of seats is standard in all three variants.
