The Hyundai ix20 is a minivan from the South Korean manufacturer Hyundai . It is the successor to the Matrix , which it replaced on November 26, 2010.
The ix20 was last offered in Germany in the two equipment variants Space and Space Plus, before that it was the variants Classic, Trend and Style. In addition to the technically identical Kia Venga and the Hyundai i30, it was produced at the Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Czech plant in Nošovice, Czech Republic .
The model was presented for the first time at the 2010 Paris Motor Show and named after Hyundai's new design line, fluidic sculpture , specially developed for the European market in the Rüsselsheim research and development center.
The ix20 was initially available with a 1.4-liter diesel engine with 66 kW (90 PS) and two petrol engines with 1.4-liter displacement and 66 kW (90 PS) and with 1.6-liter displacement and 92 kW (125 PS) ) . At the end of 2011, a 1.6-liter diesel engine with 85 kW (116 hp) was added. The 1.4-liter gasoline engine had a 5-speed manual transmission, the 1.6-liter version had a 6-speed manual transmission as standard and was optionally available with a 4-speed automatic. The two diesel engines were exclusively equipped with 6-speed manual transmissions. All engines met the Euro 5 emissions standard and were optionally available with an automatic start-stop system (additional designation "blue" in front of the cubic capacity).
In terms of safety, all vehicles in Germany had ESP, six airbags and active headrests as standard. The trunk volume was between 440 liters (VDA standard 211) with the rear seat bench up and 1486 liters (VDA standard 214) with the rear seat bench folded down.
On the occasion of the soccer World Cup 2014, various "FIFA World Cup" special models were launched, which, depending on the scope of the equipment, bore the additional designations "Edition", "Edition Silver" and "Edition Gold".
In August 2015, the vehicle received a facelift , which was primarily limited to visual features. In the summer of 2019, the production of the ix20 was discontinued without replacement.
