The Hyundai Xcient is a truck that the Hyundai Motor Company presented at the Seoul Motor Show 2013 as the successor to the Hyundai Trago . With the Xcient, Hyundai wants to increase sales of heavy trucks from 6,000 to 60,000 units by 2017. Therefore, in contrast to its predecessors, the model series will also be offered in Europe , here initially in Eastern Europe.

Configuration and technology

All previous models in the commercial vehicle sector from Hyundai were either based on models from Mitsubishi Fuso Truck and Bus Corporation , or, like the predecessor Trago, were based on Japanese design. The completely newly developed Xcient, on the other hand, is based on European trucks and the design could also come from a European truck manufacturer. In terms of interior design, Hyundai has apparently taken its cue from the Mercedes Actros , and the dashboard is similar to this model. The arrangement of the storage compartments is reminiscent of DAF models , which creates more standing room for changing cloakrooms. As with Volvo trucks , the Xcient has upper cabinets instead of a second bed. The Xcient offers a lot of shelves and storage compartments, overall Hyundai gives a total volume of a good 1,000 liters for the 3.92 meter high roof version.

For the time being, Hyundai is offering two engine variants, a 10-liter common rail injection diesel engine with 420 hp and the top-of-the-range engine, a 12.7-liter variant with 520 hp. According to the manufacturer, both should be among the best in class in terms of fuel consumption.

With these conditions, Hyundai should also achieve some sales in Western Europe, which is why Hyundai is not ruling out sales in these areas.
