The Hyundai Celesta is a compact class passenger car from the Hyundai Motor Company .

history

The vehicle was presented to the public as a sedan at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2016 and has been built by the Beijing-Hyundai joint venture since March 2017 . Technically, the vehicle is based on the fourth generation of the Hyundai Elantra , which is still marketed in China as Elantra Yuedong to this day .

At the Beijing Auto Show in April 2018, Hyundai presented the Celesta RV, a station wagon version. With a length of 4.41 meters, this variant is around ten centimeters shorter than the sedan. The wheelbase, however, is identical.

Technical specifications

The Celesta is powered by a 90 kW (122 PS) 1.6-liter gasoline engine , which is also used in the Elantra Yuedong . The sedan has a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, a 6-speed automatic transmission is available as an option. A turbocharged 1.4-liter gasoline engine with 96 kW (131 hp) is also available in the station wagon .
