August Otto Friedrich von Bercken (born May 19, 1795 in Königsberg , † October 2, 1864 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

August was a son of the Prussian major Wilhelm Ludwig von Bercken (1748–1798) and his wife Karoline Eleonore Louise Knobloch (1757–1811) from the house of Bärwalde .

Military career

On July 1, 1811, Bercken joined the Litthau Dragoon Regiment of the Prussian Army . By March 1813 he was promoted to Second Lieutenant and took part in the Wars of Liberation until 1814 . Awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, Bercken joined the 8th Dragoon Regiment on March 29, 1815, from which the 8th Cuirassier Regiment (2nd Magdeburg Regiment) emerged at the end of May 1819 . By May 14, 1828 he rose to Rittmeister and squadron chief . As a major and regular staff officer , Bercken took part in the street fighting in Erfurt in November 1848 on the occasion of the suppression of the revolutionary unrest .

On June 4, 1849, he was appointed commander of the 4th Uhlan Regiment in Schneidemühl . In this position Bercken was on September 26, 1850. Lieutenant Colonel and November 13, 1851. for Colonel promoted and mid-September 1852, the Red Eagle III. Excellent with a bow. Under awarding of the character as a major general Bercken participated in the August 8, 1854 his farewell to board and was on 29 December 1857 Pension zur Disposition asked.

After his death, he was buried on October 5, 1864 in the cemetery in Hasenheide .

Bercken married on August 8, 1823 in Bansen with Mathilde Valeska von Knobloch (1799–1882) from the Bärwalde house. The following children were born from the marriage:
