The Dodge Standard (also: Dodge Series 140/141 ), later the Dodge Series J , was a mid-size car made by the Dodge Brothers company in Detroit , which was presented in March 1928. After being taken over by Chrysler in 1928, it was built for another year. In mid-1934, a Dodge Standard Series DRXX was launched as the successor to the Dodge DP series .

The car had a side-controlled six-cylinder in-line engine with 3408 cm³ displacement, the 58 bhp (42.6 kW) at 3000 / min. submitted. The Standard was the brand's simplest model alongside the large Senior introduced 10 months earlier and the medium Victory introduced 2 months earlier . As with the sister models, its power was transmitted to the rear wheels via a single-plate dry clutch and a three-speed gearbox. A 4-door touring car, a 4-door sedan (with normal and deluxe equipment), a 2-door coupé with 2 seats and a 2-door sports convertible were offered on the chassis with a 2794 mm wheelbase. Hydraulic brakes on all four wheels were standard equipment.

The cars were renamed in mid-1928 without any major changes. The range of superstructures was also adopted unchanged.

At the beginning of 1929, the J series was discontinued without a successor, while the sister models continued to be built as the DA series and DB series .

Like its sister models Special Series DS and Deluxe Series DR , which had appeared five months earlier, the car had a side-controlled six-cylinder in-line engine with 3569 cm³, the 82 bhp (60.3 kW) at 3600 rpm. performed. The successor to the aforementioned triumvirate was the Dodge New Value from January 1935 .
