The Dodge Nitro is a compact SUV that was built from 2006 to 2011.

Model history

The Dodge Nitro was launched on the German market in June 2007, almost a year after it was launched on the American market. While it was only available with the two petrol engines in North America, a diesel engine was also offered in Europe by the Italian VM Motori . All models have rear-wheel drive as standard, and the Nitro could also be equipped with an optional all-wheel drive . In the 3.7-liter V6 engine, power is transmitted via a four-speed automatic transmission and in the 4.0-liter V6 via a five-speed automatic transmission from Mercedes-Benz. The diesel, on the other hand, was supplied with a manual six-speed gearbox , the five-speed automatic transmission was available as an option. From 2008 onwards, the Nitro in Germany was only offered with a diesel engine.

The Nitro shared a platform with the Jeep Cherokee Liberty (KK) and was produced in Toledo, Ohio .

The Nitro has a turning circle of 11.10 m and has seating capacity for five people. A special feature of the Nitro is its pull-out loading area in the trunk . This can be pulled out about 50 cm and is supposed to make loading the vehicle easier.

For 2010 there was a facelift of the model in which the chrome parts on the front of the vehicle were almost completely replaced by those in the body color.
