Just like its better equipped sister model Deluxe , the Custom from model year 1941 had the side-controlled six-cylinder in-line engine of its predecessor Luxury Liner with 3569 cm³, which now however delivered 91 bhp (67 kW) at 3800 rpm. There was a short chassis with a 3,035 mm wheelbase, a 2-door club coupe with 6 seats, a 2-door convertible, a 2-door Brougham (sedan) and two 4-door sedans, each with 5 seats, were offered. On the long chassis with a 3,493 mm wheelbase there was a sedan and a Pullman sedan, each with 4 doors and 7 seats. Compared to the predecessor, Deluxe and Custom had, in addition to the more powerful engine, larger windows and all doors hung at the front.

Series D22 (09 / 1941–01 / 1942)

In the short model year 1942, the Custom, like its sister model Deluxe, received a larger engine with 3772 cc and an output of 105 bhp (77 kW) at 3600 rpm. The front of the vehicle was also modified: the radiator grille consisted of seven chrome-plated cross bars that extended between the main headlights.

Custom and Deluxe were also the names of the first series of models made by Dodge after World War II. The pre-war designs mentioned above were essentially adopted. Only the grille was changed a little and only showed a chrome-plated grid pattern. The 3.8 liter engine only produced 102 bhp (75 kW) and both the 2-door Brougham and the Pullman sedan were no longer available. In the middle of the model year in January 1949, the Coronet model series then replaced the Custom.
