The Dewan Farooque Motors Limited is an established in 1998 Pakistani automotive and commercial vehicle manufacturer with corporate headquarters in Karachi . The manufacturer's assembly plant can be found in Sujawal . The company is a subsidiary of the Yousuf Dewan Companies , which in turn has been a sales partner for BMW and Mitsubishi since 2003 and 2004 respectively. Another source names 1999 as the start of production for the Shehzore .

Company history

The company was founded in 1998. Together with the Korean manufacturers Hyundai and Kia, the first vehicle was produced on January 15, 2000. Another source mentions the year 1999.

However, Hyundai and Kia production ended in 2004. In 2005, Dewan Farooque Motors reported 50,000 vehicles produced.

The company shut down production almost completely from 2008, only to cease it for three years later, so that units manufactured again were only reported for 2014.

The Daehan-Dewan Motor Company joint venture between Yousaf Dewan Companies and the KOLAO Group from Laos and South Korea was established to restart production from 2016 .

Models

The models produced included the Hyundai Santro and the Hyundai Shehzore utility vehicle . Between 2000 and 2011, 95,429 Kia Classic , Kia Spectra , Sportage and Hyundai Santro models were produced. For 2003 a production of 5200 Hyundai and 1379 Kia passenger cars was reported.
