Mia Holm

Mia Holm (born September 14 . Jul / 26 September 1845 greg. In Riga as Maria Minna Auguste of Hedenström ; † 14. July 1912 in Potsdam ) was a German writer .

Life

Mia Holm was the daughter of a Swedish-born pastor . She attended the secondary school for girls in Riga , which was run by her father, and then completed a teacher training course; after that she taught at the same school. In 1871 she married the textile manufacturer Diedrich Holm. The couple lived in Moscow ; from the marriage u. a. the later writer Korfiz Holm emerged. After the couple separated in 1888, Mia Holm lived with her son initially in Riga and from 1892 in Lübeck . In 1894 she went to Berlin , and from 1895 she lived in Munich .

Mia Holm wrote in German and was the author of short stories and poems . Some of her poems from the volume "Mutterlieder" were set to music by the composer Franz Schreker .
