Korfiz Holm (also: Corfitz Holm , * 9 August July / 21 August 1872 greg. As Diedrich Heinrich Corfitz Holm in Riga ; † August 5, 1942 in Munich ) was a German publisher and writer .

Life

Korfiz Holm was the son of the German Baltic manufacturer Diedrich Holm and his wife, the teacher and writer Mia Holm , a native of Sweden . Korfiz Holm grew up in Moscow and Riga . In 1892 he came to Lübeck with his mother , where he attended the upper level of the Katharineum and made the acquaintance of Thomas Mann . After Holm had passed his school-leaving examination at Easter 1894 , he went to Munich , where he served as a " one year volunteer " in the " Royal Bavarian Infantry Body Regiment ". Then studied it Jura at the universities in Berlin and Munich . After his first poems had appeared in the magazine " Simplicissimus ", Holm joined the Albert Langen publishing house in 1896 . From 1898 he was an authorized signatory of the publishing house, from 1909 he led the company as a trustee , and from 1919 Holm was one of three partners in the company. After the merger of Langen-Verlag to Langen-Müller-Verlag in 1932, Holm was managing director until his death .

Korfiz Holm was the author of novels , short stories , poems and dramas ; his work can be assigned to entertainment literature. In addition, he published several volumes with memories of his youth and his early years in Munich. Korfiz Holm also translated from Russian , French and Danish ; especially his translation of Gogol's works received great recognition.
