Termas del Arapey (German Thermen des Arapey ) is a town in Uruguay .

geography

It is located in the Salto Department in its 8th sector on the banks of the Arapey River . The place is about 80 km northeast of the provincial capital Salto , to Montevideo it is 560 km. To the northwest of Termas del Arapeys are located a few kilometers away on the Río Uruguay Belén and Chacras de Belén .

description

It is the oldest thermal bath in the country with 150,000 visitors annually. 400,000 liters per hour of warm water at temperatures of up to 42 ° Celsius escape from the 750 to 1,300 meter deep underground reservoirs of the Acuífero Guaraní . The place is also attractive to visitors from Brazil and nearby Argentina. More than 2000 hotel beds of all categories are available as well as campsites. There is a special influx during Holy Week.
