Robert de Flers
Robert de Flers ( Robert de Pellevé de La Motte-Ango, marquis de Flers , born November 25, 1872 in Pont-l'Évêque , Département Calvados , † July 30, 1927 in Vittel ) was a French playwright and journalist .
The great-grandson of Charles Giraud and grandson of Eugène de Rozière (1820-1896) studied literature and law and prepared for a diplomatic career. His first literary works, a short story, a novella and the travelogue Vers l'Orient were created on a trip to the Orient .
Robert de Flers was a classmate of Marcel Proust at the Lycée Condorcet in Paris. De Fleurs became known as a playwright. After 1900 he wrote a number of pieces in collaboration with Gaston de Caillavet in addition to his own . After his death, Francis de Croisset (1877-1937) was his co-author. With him he wrote a. a. the libretto for the operetta Ciboulette by Reynaldo Hahn (1923).
In 1921 de Flers became literary director of Le Figaro . On June 3, 1920 he was elected to succeed Pierre de Ségur as a member of the Académie française . He was also honored as commander of the Legion of Honor.
