The Nissan NV350 is a pickup truck that is produced as a panel van and minibus. As a more luxuriously equipped variant of the minibus, it bears the name NV350 Caravan , probably also as an allusion to the name of its successful predecessor Nissan Caravan . The curb weight is given as 1680–2100 kg.

Starting with the (at that time) globally offered Nissan NV200 , a new designation system for commercial vehicles was introduced. "NV" has since stood for Nissan Van, "NP" for Nissan Pick-up and "NT" for Nissan Truck. The new model NV350 is offered in Asia, in Europe there is the Nissan NV400 , in North America the Nissan NV . The NV350 is offered in two different lengths and roof heights, as well as in two different widths. The smaller width of 1.7 meters (so-called standard) and the short length of 4.7 meters correspond to the maximum possible dimensions in Japan for the compact vehicle class. Like its predecessor Nissan Caravan, Isuzu also sells the NV350 as Isuzu Como using badge engineering .

Glance into the hold

The model was presented to the public for the first time on November 8, 2011 at the 42nd Tokyo Motor Show , and sales of the NV350 Caravan van model began in Japan on June 15, 2012 .

In contrast to the previous model, there is now a so-called super version with an extra long body, which is especially intended to compete with the Hino Dutro and others. The sale of these large panel vans and minibuses with additional hitherto unknown roof heights will start at the same time as the commercial versions of the NV350 on the domestic market on July 13, 2012. Tohru Kuraoka, who was also the head of design at the Nissan NV200, was responsible for the design.

Depending on the vehicle width, the long versions of the NV350 are of different lengths: 5080 mm for the narrow, 5230 mm for the wide NV350. The front axle has independent suspension with double triangular wishbones, torsion bar suspension and internally ventilated disc brakes, the rigid rear axle has leaf suspension and drum brakes. The engine is installed between the front wheels under the center front seat and drives the rear axle via the gearbox and cardan shaft. The delivery van has three seats in the front row of seats or six in two rows and behind each a large cargo area, the minibus 15 seats including the driver.

As a motorization u. a. a 2.5 liter 4-cylinder DOHC gasoline engine Nissan QR25DE with 16 valves and intake manifold injection offered, the 108 kW at 5600 min -1 and 213 nm at 4,400 min -1 guaranteed. Alternatively, a mechanical manual or automatic transmission with five gears each is available. The alternative deliverable 2.5 liter 4-cylinder DOHC diesel engine Nissan YD25DDTi with 16 valves, common rail injection, turbocharging and charge-air cooling provides 95 kW at 3200 min -1 and 356 Nm at 1400 to 2000 min -1 . There is only one mechanical 5-speed manual transmission for the diesel engine.

In addition, all diesel engines are equipped with exhaust gas recirculation and a special catalytic converter in order to have low fuel consumption and low emissions. Regenerative monitoring of the alternator, which is only in operation when required, also contributes to low fuel consumption. At the same time, the friction in the engine was reduced. Even in the mid-range version there is an intelligent key system with a starter that remembers, for example, the seat positions or climate settings. The NV350 is the first comparable commercial vehicle on the market that offers such possibilities.

The handbrake is arranged as a footbrake for a continuous driver's area. All models also have a vehicle information display that provides information such as average fuel consumption and distance traveled, among other functions. Either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission is used as the transmission .
