Previous model Isuzu Hombre

The Isuzu i-series pickup was introduced at the 2005 New York International Auto Show. In North America, the i-series replaced the Isuzu Hombre in the model range , which had not been produced since 2000.

Like the Hombre (based on the compact Chevrolet S-10), the i-Series also used the vehicle platform of General Motors' mid-range pickups, Chevrolet LUV , Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon . The cab and chassis came from the Isuzu D-Max , which General Motors do Brasil also produced.

The i-series was produced by GM at its Shreveport, Louisiana plant using GM's sister models. In 2006, the Atlas 2.8 l and Atlas 3.5 l petrol engines with 4- speed automatic transmission and 5-speed manual transmission with front or all-wheel drive were available as units. From 2007, the Atlas 2.9 l and Atlas 3.7 petrol engines were used.

The i-series sales were poor. According to the automotive magazine Automotive News , only 1377 units were sold after production began until February 2006. After GM sold its shares in Isuzu, Isuzu decided to pull out of the North American market. Production there ended in 2008 and sales ended in 2009.
