The Datsun Cross is a passenger car model from the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan , which was initially designed for the Indonesian market. It is part of Renault-Nissan's strategy to reintroduce the Datsun brand, which was discontinued in the 1980s, as an affordable brand for emerging markets.
The five-door crossover will initially be offered in Indonesia from January 2018. There it is advertised as a compact crossover. By European standards, the Cross is a small SUV. The Cross is produced by Nissan Motor Indonesia, PT. in Purwakarta on the Indonesian island of West Java .
Previous concept study
Datsun had already presented a concept study of a crossover at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015. This still operated under the name "Go Cross".
positioning
The Cross has a bad-road chassis and a ground clearance of 200 mm, which qualifies it for bad roads and easy terrain. At the same time, it is positioned as a 5 + 2-seater as a family vehicle. The market launch price starts at 163,000,000 Indonesian rupees , the equivalent of around 9,500 euros .
Motorization and transmission
The Cross is powered by a 1.2-liter petrol engine with an output of either 50 or 58 kW. A maximum torque of 104 Newton meters is specified. Both a manual gearbox and a continuously variable CVT gearbox are offered as the gearbox.
Furnishing
safety
The Cross is equipped as standard with a "Vehicle Dynamic Control" technology, which includes an anti-lock braking system, traction control and a brake assistant. Airbags for the driver and front passenger are also standard.
lighting
The Cross has automatic low beam with LED signature and fog lights.
