The second generation of the Datsun Cabstar started in January 1976, a Nissan Homer F20 converted using badge engineering on the technical basis of the Nissan Caball C340. Panel van and minibus versions no longer existed, so that only the flatbed truck was available. The Nissan H20-1982 cm³ petrol engine with 74 kW / 99 PS was now used as the engine, while the Homer, which was also partially exported to some countries in Europe as Datsun Homer, also had the J15 petrol engine with 57 kW / 77 hp. The SD22 diesel engine from the Homer with 48 kW / 65 PS was available for a surcharge on the Cabstar.

In 1977 minor improvements were made and a variant with a longer platform and a higher body was built. This version was specially created for export, which has since officially taken place to Europe , while the Cabstar I + II was previously only imported from individual countries such as the Nordic and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland .

In 1979 the front was modernized and the engines improved due to the changed emissions regulations. This model received the code F21. In December 1981 production in Japan was stopped.

From 1982 a new model, the Datsun Cabstar F22, was available, which was built by Nissan Motor Ibérica in Barcelona ( Spain ) for Europe. This model was a version of the Nissan Atlas sold worldwide .
