The Datsun redi-Go (proper spelling: redi-GO) is a car model from the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan , which was initially designed for the Indian market. It is part of Renault-Nissan's strategy to reintroduce the Datsun brand, which was discontinued in the 1980s, as an affordable brand for emerging markets. A concept study of the redi-Go was presented at the Auto Expo 2014 in New Delhi, India . The production model, which has been delivered since the beginning of June 2016, followed in April 2016. The four-door crossover sedan is assigned to the subcompact class.

Surname

With the part of the name "Go", Datsun takes on the name of the two models previously positioned on the Asian market, ie the Go small car and the Go + minivan. The part of the name "redi" alludes to the English word "ready" and is intended to express that the vehicle is ready for all kinds of activities.

Development and production

The Datsun redi-Go was developed in India and initially for India. It is built by Renault Nissan Automotive India in Oragadam, India, near the city of Chennai in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu .

Vehicle architecture and technical data

For the redi-Go, Datsun uses the small A-platform of the "Common Module Family" from Renault-Nissan (CMF-A) developed under the direction of Gérard Detourbet . The Renault Kwid is also built on this platform . The redi-Go is a bit lighter and shorter than the Kwid and has a greater ground clearance of 185 mm.
